Our mission
To assist international students in solving various health, social and academic issues during their stay in Taiwan
Our support comes in three forms:
Resource Support – SSG members work to collect and provide information about life at NCCU, and in Taiwan, mainly through the Taiwan Survival Guide platform and by collecting resources, such as travel guides, available in the office of the International Counselor, Dr. Dira Berman on the 3rd floor of the Administration Building.
Linguistic Support – SSG recruits a team of volunteers covering as many of the major languages spoken by international students as possible to be available to help with translation in given situations.
We work closely with Office of International Cooperation and International Counselor, Dr. Dira Berman
No-one should be left without help !
Taiwan Survival Guide
Central to SSG’s mission is the provision of resources. There is a wealth of information available in many languages about how to live and live well in Taipei. SSG strives to provide accurate and relevant information for student life at NCCU and in Taiwan. A couple of volunteer students helped to compile the first Taiwan Survival Guide, which takes information gathered by the Office of International Cooperation (OIC) and adds to it additional international student knowledge.
SSG creates an emergency card for NCCU students that provides useful contact information for Campus Security, the Office of International Cooperation, and the Student Support Group. The card also has space for students to fill in their own relevant contact information, such as a roommate or Taiwanese friend’s phone number in case of emergency.
Who we are
We are a group of NCCU students familiar with the University’s resources and facilities, as well as the Taipei City surroundings and services available for everyone.
The SSG is organized by international students and NCCU staff. In order to support, improve and enhance communication and coordination at NCCU, this group will be dealing with students and staff of different backgrounds to provide better guidance in school life, shorten the gap between Eastern and Western cultures creating partnership for better understanding and objective achievement, enriching learning and cooperation.
